McKenzie Law Founder Curt McKenzie

Curt McKenzie

Curt McKenzie, is the founding member of McKenzie Law.  He has practiced law for over twenty years since graduating in the top 10% of his law school class from Georgetown University.  McKenzie has tried dozens of cases to verdict before Idaho judges or juries, and he has briefed cases before several federal and state appellate courts.  He began his career with a K Street law firm in Washington, D.C.  He came back to Idaho to work as a deputy prosecuting attorney.  Then he went into private practice in the Boise office of a national law firm.  In 2006, he started McKenzie Law Offices, PLLC with the goal of representing individuals in their time of greatest need, whether that involved the threatened loss of liberty from criminal prosecution, assisting inmates before the Idaho Parole Commission or helping Idahoans regain their civil rights, including the right to bear arms.  McKenzie Law uses flat fill billing almost exclusively to provide clients with peace of mind, predictability, and simplicity.

Curt McKenzie was a member of the Idaho State Senate 2002-2016.  He chaired the Senate’s leadership committee, the State Affairs Committee.  He also served on various national committees including as President of the Pacific Northwest Economic RegionNational Conference of State Legislatures Nuclear Legislative work group; and Council of State Governments-West Energy and Public Lands Committee.  McKenzie also served on the Idaho committee to reform the public defense system and he co-chaired the Energy, Environment & Technology interim committee.  In the legislature, Senator McKenzie was an advocate for sentencing reform and alternative sentencing.

When he is not working, McKenzie enjoys walking, working out, reading, and skydiving at Skydown Idaho as a USPA licensed skydiver.  He is also a proud parent of two, including one world record holder for the world’s then-largest M&M mosaic.
